Hi, my name is Gayle Krull. I'm from Hagerstown, MD, but I relocated to Harrisburg, PA in the summer of 2010. I've been teaching piano lessons since 1997 and I've been a Licensed Kindermusik Educator since 2010.
After taking piano lessons from age 7 under the direction of 3 different instructors, I decided to choose a career path involving music. I received my Bachelor's degree in Music Education with a concentration in voice and keyboard in 1998 from Bridgewater College in Virginia. While in college I assisted the Music Department Chair, Dr. Jesse E. Hopkins, with music related tasks, helped to run choral break-outs, served as the Handbell Choir Director, accompanied students for recitals, and taught piano and voice lessons to members of the community. Singing in the Bridgewater College Chorale, a 26 member elite choir, allowed me the opportunity to sing for audiences in many states including Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland as well as four cities in China. I also had the opportunity to accompany the President of the collge, Dr. Phillip Stone, to many of his collegiate dinners and perform as a solo musician.
Following my college experiences I served as the sideline percussion instructor for the Blue Band at Williamsport High School in Maryland. I also worked as the director of a child care center in Greencastle, PA for seven years. Music was a very important part of our day at the child care center and we offered many special programs for parents including Christmas Programs and Preschool Graduation Ceremonies.
My last 5 years in Hagerstown were spent teaching special education students at the schools located at Brook Lane Health Services Campus: Stone Bridge Academy and Laurel Hall School. During my time at Laurel Hall School I added Elementary Education and Special Education to my areas of teaching certification within Maryland. I taught reading intervention, elementary classes, high school child care, served as testing coordinator, and taught in the (then) new autism program at the school. Music was often integrated into my lessons because it serves as a great way to incorporate learning in all areas.
I now live in Susquehanna Township with my husband, Andy, of 15 years, my 13-year-old son, Dylan, and my 12-year-old daughter, Hannah. We enjoy participating in various activities as a family: visiting friends and family, serving at our church, and going to Hershey Bears hockey games.
